1. Overview

ReeferTechPro is a professional diagnostic tool for refrigerated transport technicians working on Thermo King and Carrier units. The app includes AI-powered features (AI Agent chat, Voice queries, and Diagram generation) that use xAI's Grok, a third-party AI service, to process your technical queries.

This Privacy Policy explains what data is sent, what is not, and how you can control it.

2. What Data Is Sent to xAI

When you use AI-powered features, the following data is sent to xAI (the company behind Grok) for processing:

  • Your typed question (AI Agent chat)
  • Your voice transcript (Voice feature — converted to text on-device before sending)
  • Your diagram description (Diagrams feature)
  • Relevant technical context from Thermo King and Carrier service manuals (retrieved automatically to improve response accuracy)

This data is sent solely to generate an AI response and is not stored by ReeferTechPro after the session ends.

3. What Data Is NOT Collected or Sent

ReeferTechPro does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Your name, email, or any personal identifiers
  • Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV, or similar)
  • Location data (GPS, IP-based, or otherwise)
  • Usage analytics or behavioral tracking
  • Photos, contacts, or any other on-device data

The app does not create user accounts and does not build user profiles.

4. Third-Party AI Service: xAI

The AI features in ReeferTechPro are powered by xAI's Grok models. When you submit a query, it is sent to xAI's servers via their API for processing. xAI's own data handling practices apply to the data they receive. You can review xAI's privacy policy at x.ai/legal/privacy-policy.

ReeferTechPro sends only the technical query and service manual context described above. No personal data is included in API requests to xAI.

5. Local Data Storage

The app stores the following locally on your device using standard iOS mechanisms (UserDefaults):

  • Your AI consent preference (consented or declined)
  • Your preferred default brand (Thermo King or Carrier)
  • App settings (RAG result count, streaming preference)

This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.

6. Your Consent and Control

Before any data is sent to xAI, the app requires your explicit consent through a dedicated consent screen. You must actively tap "I Consent" to enable AI features.

You can revoke your consent at any time by going to Settings → Privacy → Revoke AI Consent within the app. When consent is revoked, all AI features are immediately disabled and no further data is sent to xAI. You can still use the local alarm database, brand lookup, and alarm detail features without AI consent.

You can re-grant consent at any time from Settings or from any AI feature tab.

7. Children's Privacy

ReeferTechPro is a professional tool intended for qualified refrigeration technicians. It is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
